Welcome Guest!

We have a great treasure in the Lutheran Church!

This absolutely cannot be understated.

The treasure is superior to any rubies or diamonds, it far surpasses gold or silver, it's more

precious than Bitcoin.

We have the pure Gospel- the forgiveness of sins in Christ Jesus.

Now, it's quite easy for us to get complacent, to become so used to it that we forget how

precious this treasure is.

But anyone who remembers life before they had the treasure compared to now when they

possess it, realizes just how precious this treasure really, truly is.

St. Paul says, "And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked,

following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is

now at work in the sons of disobedience" (Ephesians 2:1-2).

We're all quite familiar with death. How utterly terrible it is. Death destroys what was once

vibrant and full of life.

Paul's not exaggerating when he says that we were dead. We were dead to God, doomed to

destruction, without any kind of a hope whatsoever.

Just like the rest of mankind!

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when

*we* were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ- by grace you have been

saved" (2:4-5).

That's the most precious treasure in all creation.

Not everyone has this treasure. Not everyone has the comfort of forgiveness and eternal life

freely given- not even in all of Christianity!

You have it, dear saints! You have it.

The question is- what do we do with the treasure?

May the peace of Christ dwell in you richly!
